Four Acclaimed Gay and Lesbian Themed Titles

on DVD in Celebration of Gay Pride Month

Torch Song Trilogy, Love! Valour! Compassion!,

The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls In Love

and Three of Hearts to be released

on May 4 for first time on DVD

Los Angeles, CA (February 2, 2004) New Line Home Entertainment today announced the first-time DVD release of four gay and lesbian themed films in time for Gay Pride Month in June. Featuring such acclaimed and award-winning acting talent as Jason Alexander, Anne Bancroft, Matthew Broderick, Harvey Fierstein, John Glover and Joe Pantoliano, these four films will appeal to gay and lesbian viewers, as well as mainstream audiences with their universal themes. Torch Song Trilogy and Love! Valour! Compassion! are two dramas based on Tony Award® winning plays, both of which concern the lives and relationships of gay men. Three of Hearts and The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls In Love are two lesbian-themed romantic comedies. These four films will be released on May 4 for $19.97 each. All of these films are currently available on VHS.

Torch Song Trilogy

“[Harvey Fierstein] gives a nakedly honest performance”

- Rita Kempley, The Washington Post

Harvey Fierstein (Duplex, Mrs. Doubtfire) wrote and stars in the groundbreaking film adaptation of his smash Tony Award® winning play Torch Song Trilogy. In this sometimes humorous but always poignant story, Fierstein plays Arnold, a female impersonator and nightclub singer, who must learn to deal not only with his unaccepting mother, played by Academy Award® winner Anne Bancroft (The Miracle Worker, The Graduate), but also with the three loves of his life – his first lover Ed (Brian Kerwin, Jack, The Myth of Fingerprints); Alan, the lover he lost, played by multiple Tony Award® winner Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Stepford Wives 2004); and David (Eddie Castrodad), the boy he wants to adopt. Arnold learns the true definition of love through his interactions with each of these characters.

Harvey Fierstein provides an audio commentary to discuss his roles as both actor and writer in this film, and how the film’s themes are “as current as today’s New York Times.” The DVD also contains the 16x9 Widescreen version of the film, DTS Surround Sound (English), 5.1 Surround Sound (English), Stereo Surround Sound (English), English subtitles and closed captions, Spanish subtitles, animated menus, theatrical trailer and additional trailers from other New Line Home Entertainment titles.

Love! Valour! Compassion!

“Love! Valour! Compassion! drags the genre of gay film out of the closet for mainstream audiences. This is a movie for everyone, and that calls for an exclamation point!”

- Ruthe Stein, San Francisco Chronicle

Multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominee and Tony Award® winner Jason Alexander (TV’s “Seinfeld”, Shallow Hal) joins the original off-Broadway cast for the film adaptation of Terrence McNally’s Tony Award® winning play Love! Valour! Compassion! (Best Play – 1995). Eight gay men spend three summer holiday weekends together at a rural country house. What transpires is a tender, humorous and poignant story about love, valour and compassion among friends. In this 1997 film version, John Glover (TV’s “Smallville”, Batman & Robin) resumes his Tony Award® winning performance (Best Actor in a Featured Role – Play) as a pair of twin brothers and re-joins other original cast members Stephen Spinella (And the Band Played On), Justin Kirk (from HBO’s Golden Globe winning film Angels In America), Randy Becker (Lie Down With Dogs), John Benjamin Hickey (TV’s “It’s All Relative”, Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows) and Stephen Bogardus (TV’s “Another World”).

The DVD contains the 16x9 Widescreen version of the film, 5.1 Surround Sound (English), Stereo Surround Sound (English), English subtitles and closed captions, Spanish subtitles, animated menus, theatrical trailer and additional trailers from other New Line Home Entertainment titles.

Rated R for graphic nudity, some sexuality and strong language · 120 minutes

The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls In Love

“Captures the universally sunny spirit of first love.”

- Joe Brown, The Washington Post

Winner of the Outstanding Independent Film Award at the 1996 GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards, The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls In Love tells the story of Randy (Laurel Holloman from Showtime’s new lesbian drama “The L Word”) and Evie (Nicole Parker, Boogie Nights, Showtime’s “Soul Food”), two high school girls from the opposite sides of the tracks. From the clothes they wear, the friends they associate with, their economic backgrounds and their tastes in music, Randy and Evie have almost nothing in common. After a chance encounter, the two girls become inseparable friends. As their friendship blossoms into something greater, will their love be strong enough to overcome their own differences and stand up to the negativity of family and friends?

Director Maria Maggenti provides a commentary track on this DVD, outlining how the film was shot in twenty-one days for a budget well under $100,000. The DVD also contains the 16x9 Widescreen version of the film, 5.1 Surround Sound (English), Stereo Surround Sound (English), English subtitles and closed captions, Spanish subtitles, animated menus, theatrical trailer and additional trailers from other New Line Home Entertainment titles.

Rated R for a strong sex scene involving teen girls, and for language and some drug use · 94 minutes

Three Of Hearts

“3 stars! The whole approach to gay life in this movie is refreshingly unaffected”

- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Kelly Lynch (Charlie’s Angels, Drugstore Cowboy) stars as heartbroken nurse Connie, who has just been dumped by her girlfriend Ellen (Golden Globe nominee Sherilyn Fenn, Wild At Heart, TV’s “Twin Peaks”). Determined to win back Ellen’s love, Connie enlists the services of a down-on-his-luck male escort named Joe (William Baldwin, Sliver, Backdraft) to woo Ellen and ultimately break her heart, forcing her back into Connie’s loving and awaiting arms. Will Connie’s scheming and manipulation work to her advantage, or will her plan backfire, igniting unforeseen passions between Joe and Ellen? Not everything is as it seems in this romantic comedy. Three of Hearts also features Emmy winner Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, HBO’s “The Sopranos”) as Joe’s boss, Mickey.

Included on the Three of Hearts DVD is an alternate ending, not seen in theaters. The DVD also contains the 16x9 Widescreen version of the film, 5.1 Surround Sound (English), DTS Surround Sound (English), Stereo Surround Sound (English), English subtitles and closed captions, Spanish subtitles, animated menus, theatrical trailer & additional trailers from other New Line Home Entertainment titles.
