In this prequel to New Line Cinema’s 1994 blockbuster hit Dumb & Dumber, Lloyd Christmas (Eric Christian Olsen, Not Another Teen Movie) and Harry Dunne (Derek Richardson, TV’s “Felicity”) are united for the first time and become friends for life. It’s the first day of high school and Harry, having been home-schooled by his mother (Mimi Rogers, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery), needs someone to show him the ropes. Lloyd, who conveniently lives in the school’s basement with his adoptive dad, school custodian Ray (Luis Guzman, Anger Management), turns out to be just the guy. The two unwittingly fall victim to the evil plans of corrupt Principal Collins (Eugene Levy, American Wedding) and his girlfriend, head lunch lady Ms. Heller (Cheri Oteri, Scary Movie, TV’s “Saturday Night Live”), who put Harry and Lloyd into a bogus “special needs” class in order to bilk the district out of $100,000 in grant money that they intend to keep for themselves. As Harry and Lloyd enthusiastically venture out to recruit more students for this new class, they unwittingly catch the attention of the beautiful Jessica Matthews (Rachel Nichols, TV’s “Sex in the City”), a hard-hitting reporter for the school’s newspaper, who suspects foul play. The film also features an outstanding comedic ensemble cast featuring Elden Henson (The Battle of Shaker Heights), William Lee Scott (Identity), Lin Shaye (There’s Something About Mary), Shia LaBeouf (Holes) and Bob Saget (TV’s “Full House”). The Platinum Series DVD 9 features commentary with Director Troy Miller, Eric Christian Olsen and Derek Richardson, as well as two documentaries: Casting the Perfect Dummies and Dumb and Dangerous, a “making of” featurette. In addition, the DVD contains deleted/alternate scenes and bloopers/outtakes, both with optional commentary by Director Troy Miller and Editor Larry Jordan. The DVD also includes a widescreen (1.85:1) version of the film with 5.1 Surround Sound, Stereo Surround Sound, English subtitles, Spanish subtitles, closed captions, the teaser trailer and the original theatrical trailer of the film. DVD-ROM content includes “Script-to-Screen” with storyboards, a short bus screensaver and a 1986 Hair Style Studio that allows the different “dated” hairstyles from the film to be applied to any uploaded photo. |
