LOS ANGELES, CA (February 7, 2005) – Make an appointment with a riotously funny film that’s a “cut” above the rest as New Line Home Entertainment marks the DVD debut of Hair Show on May 10, 2005. A female version of the smash comedy Barbershop, Hair Show stars larger-than-life personality Mo’Nique (TV’s The Parkers, Soul Plane) as a down-on-her-luck hair stylist who finds herself in some hot water. Hair Show will be marked at a $19.98 SRP. The sophomore film release from Earvin “Magic” Johnson’s production company, Hair Show is an outrageous fish-out-of-water comedy with a brassy lead performance from NAACP Award winner Mo’Nique. Star of UPN’s #1 comedy series The Parkers for four years, Mo’Nique currently hosts the top-rated weekly entertainment program Showtime at the Apollo. Hair Show features a talented supporting cast, including Kellita Smith (upcoming King’s Ransom, TV’s The Bernie Mac Show) and Gina Torres (The Matrix Revolutions), and is highlighted by special guest appearances by tennis superstar Serena Williams and Vivica A. SYNOPSIS Comedienne Mo’Nique stars as Peaches, a Baltimore hair stylist who goes to L.A. to get reacquainted with her estranged sister Angela (Kellita Smith), owner of an upscale salon in Beverly Hills. But the reunion takes a hair-raising turn when Peaches admits she owes the IRS back taxes, and her last hope is to enter the Hair Battle Royale contest for the $50,000 first prize. Now she must defeat a scheming rival salon owner Marcella (Gina Torres) and stay one step ahead of the taxman!
