LOS ANGELES, CA (December 12, 2005) – A young writer who has become disenchanted with the LA scene decides to pack up and head east just as he meets the girl of his dreams in How to Lose Your Lover, a refreshingly witty comedy available on DVD March 14, 2006, from New Line Home Entertainment. A favorite at the Tribeca and Austin Film Festivals, How to Lose Your Lover stars rising talents Poppy Montgomery (TV’s Without a Trace, TV’s Blonde), Paul Schneider (The Family Stone, Elizabethtown, All the Real Girls), Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein) and Tori Spelling (Scary Movie 2, Trick) along with comedy veteran Fred Willard (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Best in Show). The DVD special features include deleted scenes and commentary with writer-director Jordan Hawley, producer J. Todd Harris and co-star Fred Willard. How to Lose Your Lover is available on DVD at a $19.97 SRP, with a pre-order due date of February 7, 2006.
SYNOPSIS
Owen (Schneider) writes trashy biographies of the notorious and semi-famous in Los Angeles, California. After an earthquake, he has an epiphany and realizes that he has become a spineless liar not only to his professional contacts but also to his friends and the women in his life. Determined to save himself from a future of white lies and self-loathing, Owen decides to “break up with his life” and head back east to start fresh. To ensure that he will have no regrets about leaving, he resolves to stop his pattern of lies by going on a truth telling binge – his way of saying a final, honest goodbye to his support group, his colleagues and all of his friends. Naturally, he infuriates everyone in the process, severing all of his ties along the way. But a funny thing happens on his way to the airport: he meets a woman who should be “the girl of his dreams.” Knowing that, ultimately, this relationship will be doomed to fail similar to all of his others, he “fast tracks” the relationship and proceeds to take Val (Westfeldt) on a series of “no-win” dates in a desperate race to see to see if he can figure out How to Lose Your Lover.
