In addition to the over four-hour-long feature – presented on two discs with the enhanced picture and sound quality that are New Line Home Entertainment’s signature – the
four-disc Special Extended DVD Edition also includes two discs offering hours of brand new supplemental material.

The first two discs will feature four (4) supplemental audio commentary tracks, accompanied by a subtitle layer identifying each different speaker.

Discs three and four feature all-new bonus content, including multiple documentaries, galleries and interactive maps. Documentaries that were started with the Special Extended DVD Editions of the first two films in the trilogy are continued here, bringing the full The Lord of the Rings experience to completion.

Set in 1970 – and consisting largely of footage that has never been seen since – Festival Express documents an eponymous “happening.” Following on the heels of Woodstock, “Festival Express” was a multi-band, multi-day extravaganza that captured the spirit and imagination of a generation and a nation. What made it unique was that it was portable; for five days, the bands and performers lived, slept, rehearsed and did countless unmentionable things aboard a customized train that traveled from Toronto, to Calgary, to Winnipeg, with each stop culminating in a mega-concert. The DVD set of the updated The Twilight Zone includes remakes of two popular classic episodes – “The Eye of the Beholder,” with Molly Sims in the lead role of Janet Taylor (the original starred Donna Douglas of The Beverly Hillbillies fame) who anxiously awaits the outcome of an eleventh surgery to correct her abnormal face. When the bandages come off, she is revealed to be incredibly beautiful, but the doctor recoils in horror as the camera pulls back to reveal that he and others in the hospital room are deformed and misshapen. Then, paranoia strikes the residents of Maple Street when they believe human-looking aliens have invaded the neighborhood in “The Monsters on Maple Street,” another remade episode starring Andrew McCarthy (the original, “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street,” starred Claude Akins). LOS ANGELES, CA (March 8, 2004) – The King makes his return in filmmaker Peter Jackson’s stunning conclusion to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, arriving on DVD and VHS on May 25, 2004. The home video debut of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King will follow the groundbreaking success of the multi-tiered platform releases of both The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, and will be available on a two-disc DVD and VHS for $29.95 and $24.97, respectively.
