Los Angeles, CA (April 8, 2002) New Line Home Entertainment today announced the release of John Q., a drama about one father who takes extraordinary measures to save his son, becoming an unlikely hero to the public and a criminal in the eyes of the law, starring two-time Academy Award® winner Denzel Washington. John Q. will be available for rental on VHS and on infinifilm™DVD, New Line Home Entertainment’s brand of premium DVD that guarantees that you will be able to “Go beyond the movie…” It will also be available for sale on VHS for $22.94 and on infinifilm™DVD for $26.98 on July 16.

Dramatic infinifilm™DVD Features
The John Q. infinifilm™DVD contains filmmaker commentary with Director Nick Cassavetes, Screenwriter James Kearns, Producer Mark Burg, Director of Photography Rogier Stoffers, and Actress Kimberly Elise, as well as deleted and alternate scenes, the theatrical trailer and the theatrical press kit. The DVD also contains two documentaries, “Fighting for Care” and “Behind the Scenes of John Q.” The film is presented in widescreen, with animated menus, 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, DTS Surround Sound and stereo surround sound. The DVD-ROM content includes the “Script-To-Screen” screenplay feature, the film’s original website and a link to the infinifilm.com website featuring content exclusive to DVD-ROM users.

John Q. Runs Out of Options
John Q. Archibald (Denzel Washington, Training Day, Remember the Titans) is an ordinary man whose life revolves around his family. His wife Denise (Kimberly Elise, Beloved, Set It Off) and young son Michael (Daniel E. Smith) are his world. But when Michael falls seriously ill and needs an emergency heart transplant operation that John Q. can’t afford and his health insurance won’t cover, he vows to do whatever it will take to keep his son alive. With time and options running out, a desperate gamble becomes his only hope – he takes the hospital emergency room hostage. In addition, John Q. stars Robert Duvall (Gone In 60 Seconds, The Godfather), Eddie Griffin (Armageddon, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo), Shawn Hatosy (Outside Providence, In & Out), Anne Heche (Six Days, Seven Nights, Psycho), Ray Liotta (Hannibal, Heartbreakers), James Woods (Any Given Sunday, Virgin Suicides) and is directed by Nick Cassavetes.
