LOS ANGELES, CA (May 16, 2005) – A new generation of warriors has taken over the troubled inner cities of the United Kingdom in the high-energy thriller The Purifiers, available on DVD from New Line Home Entertainment on August 30, 2005. Set against the backdrop of modern-day Britain, this Scottish martial arts actioner stars Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy, TV’s Lost) and Kevin McKidd (Trainspotting, De-Lovely) as activists who, tired of hopeless government initiatives and bad policing, create their own community to protect their neighborhoods from social and moral collapse. SYNOPSIS When a community’s government and police force continue to fail them, the gangs of a UK neighborhood unite to consider forming one, all-powerful confederation. For one of the gangs, The Purifiers – a collection of smart and highly skilled exponents of Tae Kwon Do – this proposal goes against everything they represent. The rest of the gangs realize quickly that, for the new alliance to be a success, they must get rid of The Purifiers.
