Black Cloud is a spirited, young boxer who backs down from no man. When Eddie Young (Rick Schroder), a rodeo circuit cowboy, tries to reclaim the beautiful Sammi (Julia Jones) with whom he has a son, Black Cloud intervenes. A fight ensues, and Black Cloud savagely beats Eddie. Sheriff Powers (Tim McGraw) comes after Black Cloud but is thwarted by Bud (Russell Means), Black Cloud’s mentor and seasoned boxing coach. Meanwhile, Olympic boxing scout Norm Olsen (Peter Greene), who had witnessed Black Cloud destroying opponents in a Golden Gloves Boxing tournament, offers the fighter an opportunity to fight his way onto the Olympic Boxing Team. Black Cloud declines, willing to fight only for his homeland, the Navajo Nation.
However, Black Cloud’s life takes a sudden and unexpected turn when a corrupt bureaucrat (Wayne Knight) reveals to him that he has mixed blood. This revelation begins a chain of events that leads Black Cloud on a journey of self discovery. Will Black Cloud’s negligent father (Tim Sampson) or the revenge seeking rodeo cowboy lead him to self destruction, or will the love of Sammi and the strength of his coach lead him to redemption?
